YORK Novenco has chosen to introduce a visual configurator from the Danish software company 3Dfacto to automate the process between product development, sale and production. The decision has resulted in great savings - both in the form of fewer mistakes in the combination of products and fewer employees for encoding information and processing orders. YORK Novenco looks back at a successful cooperation with 3Dfacto and expects the investment to be recovered in a year.

It requires special efforts to maintain the position as one of the world's leading manufacturing companies in the ventilation industry. As the market is highly competitive, it requires continuing improvements and greater efficiency to make a profit on the products. YORK Novenco realized this long ago. For several years the company has therefore developed its own software which contributes to the standardization and improved efficiency of its processes in the fields of sale, development and production.

The latest development is an advanced, visual configurator which may calculate and show exactly how the many different products of York Novenco are to be combined - as they may be combined in multiple ways. However, the new configurator has not been developed by YORK Novenco's own software developers. André Agerholm, logistics and technology manager of YORK Novenco, says: "We chose to purchase a standard product, because it would not be profitable for us to develop a configurator from scratch. As we have worked with different product configurators since the end of the 80s, we were fully aware of the type of software we wanted and of its required capabilities".

YORK Novenco used its experience to assess a number of advanced product configurators and chose the Danish company 3Dfacto. "After having screened the marked and having also looked into the possibilities of using the configurators already existing other places in the YORK Group, we chose to enter into cooperation with 3Dfacto. 3Dfacto's software is unique, because it is able to handle an unexpectedly high number of possible combinations and at the same time to support the complex calculations that we need", says André Agerholm YORK Novenco develops and manufactures ventilation and fire fighting systems that are marketed and distributed world-wide through subsidiaries and agents.
