Array Technology announces the sixth generation of its groundbreaking, proven and patented logic constraint solver

Copenhagen, Denmark - June 11th , 2004 - Array Technology is proud to announce availability of Array Configuration version 6.0. With this latest generation, the Array Configurator is faster and easier to use than ever before. This is complemented by a host of add-on products that significantly reduce the effort required to make full use of its powers within the customers existing environment. While the original OEM product, the powerful compiler and run-time engine, is still available to support small footprint embedding of the Array Configurator, customers will find significantly added value in new products such as the Eclipse based modeling environment Array Studio and the extensive support for external solvers at run-time.

OEM partners and system integrators will be able to extend their applications with advanced modeling features by embracing the new modeling API Array Developer and leverage past experience on new platforms as the new runtime APIs has been made consistently available on all major platforms; Java, C++ and .NET Finally, a new line of Rapid Application Extension makes implementation and customization even easier, also for developers with no prior experience with Array Configuration.

"With this new and improved solution we continue to meet our customers´ needs and further help streamline their business processes, resulting in faster market responsiveness and cost reduction," said Ulrik Haumann, vice president, Array Technology A/S. "We´re constantly expanding our solutions to benefit our customers. Our latest offerings enable faster application development, automation, and more rapid integration, as well as increased flexibility for modeling complex scenarios."

The latest release of Array Configuration features several new products and a number of advanced features that enhance existing products, including:

Array Studio is a suite of applications designed to ease the model development phase. All the Studio applications are based on the industry standard Eclipse framework, enabling a wide array of features to be shared among all applications.

  • Studio is a flexible, extendable modeling environment based on the industry standard Eclipse platform. Consequently, Studio is a complete maintenance and development environment that automatically supports advanced version control, team-support and, through plug-ins, application and web-site development; all in one package.
For example, users of IBM WebSphere Studio will be able to run Model Builder in the same environment as their application development tools.
  • Because Studio is based on the Eclipse platform, and because Eclipse is embraced by leading application developers, customers are not stuck with a proprietary platform, but can find both trained professionals and generic plug-ins to help customize Studio to their particular needs.
  • Resting on the shoulders of Eclipse, all the tools that make Eclipse an efficient team-based development environment also applies to Studio. This includes team support and advanced version control.
  • Extensive platform support for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Solaris.
  • Automatic on-line software updates through the on-line software update manager.

Model Builder Model creation and especially maintenance is a major task in any constraint solver related project; a task that Array Technology has simplified significantly with the introduction of Model Builder with its wide selection of variable types, declarative (i.e. not procedural) language and extensive use of easily comprehendible truth tables.

Connector Re-use of existing data is fundamental in integrating a constraint solver in an existing system. Not only can it reduce the cost of embracing new technology, frequently legacy data stores have grown to a point where manual re-entering is not an option. The Array Connector allow modelers to re-use existing data partially or entirely.

Analyzer Modeling is a continuous task of creation and testing. The quick turn-around time of the integrated analyzer significantly reduces the modeling time, and powerful analysis tools helps pinpoint problems and improve the model structure.

Array Runtime is the core execution environment designed with primary focus on scalability and performance. Its unique small footprint allows for high flexibility in deployment as it can scale from a mobile phone up to large Unix clusters.

  • The global model view offered by the unique mathematical representation developed by Array Technology provides freedom for users to interact with the model in any order they please.
  • The Runtime effectively prevents conflicts through its complete and continuous overview of the full solution space, but also provides powerful tools to resolve explicit (forced) conflicts.
  • User selections can be categorized and have assigned priorities that customize the conflict handling process, effectively allowing the user to provide "hard selections" as well as suggestions or "soft selections".
  • The Array Runtime is available on several platforms and the various interfaces are as identical as the platforms allow, minimizing the efforts required by application developers working in today's multi platform environment. The following platforms/languages are supported: C++, .NET (e.g. C#), COM (e.g. Visual Basic), Java (including J2ME)
  • Re-use of model data across sessions, small memory footprint and sub-millisecond response times guarantees highly scalable server implementations. Web extensions based on industry standards provide automatic support of existing load balancing, clustering and other scalability technologies.
