DNA Miner 3 Beta 2 Released

High throughput genotyping methods allow analysis of large number of single nucleotide polymorphisms, SNPs. At the same time it is acknowledged that many common diseases have complex etiologies, which may involve combinations of SNPs from different genes.

In order to comply with this problem Array Technology has developed the programme DNA Miner, where version 3 beta 2 is now available. The key to the performance of the tool is the geometrical approach to problem solving using nested arrays, which are very suitable for parallel processing.

DNA Miner is a tool designed to calculate combinations of SNP genotypes in association studies where large numbers of SNPs have been analysed. DNA Miner allows identification of combinations of SNP genotypes which are specific for groups of e.g., control subjects or patients, or combinations which are significantly over-represented in such groups. DNA Miner can be used to test the statistical significance of results by random permutation of combinations of SNP genotypes.
