Implementation of Array based configurator increases sales 30-40 percent at world-leading Aalborg Industries

Copenhagen, Denmark - Aalborg Industries, the world leading supplier of customised boilers, heaters and inert gas solutions, increases annual sales with 30-40% to DKK 2.8bn in 2007 despite shortage of qualified labor and high labor costs in Denmark. 

According to CEO Aalborg Industries, Jan Vestergaard Olsen, the major reason for the impressive growth rates can be contributed the implementation and customization of the visual product configurator from 3Dfacto - a partner solution that embeds the advanced configurator engine from Array Technology. The configurator has revolutionized the work flow and culture at Aalborg Industries, where sales reps are now able to design the boilers together with the customers on the spot and create an offer immediately. Historically, offer creation was a labor intensive job requiring numerous customer visits and subsequently technical design and reworks by highly educated personnel taken into account internal as well as external requirements (insurance, legal authorities, documentation, etc.). Today, thanks to the configurator, many more orders can now be handled much faster which would have been impossible without hiring significant extra personnel. 60% of all orders are now made in the configurator and Aalborg Industries expect it will increase to 80%. Further capitalization of the IT investment is planned with the integration of the configurator to the ERP system for handling bill-of-materials for production and ordering at the suppliers.
